Chris Miles

“I was less than graceful at times,” jokes Chris Miles ’05 when he talks about his high school football days. “Physicians got me back into the game. That was pretty powerful to me.”

A recent graduate of the Peoria campus of the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Miles says he will pursue a career in sports medicine once he completes his primary care residency at Peoria’s Methodist Medical Center of Illinois. He enjoys the challenges and variety of family care and believes it will provide an excellent background for his sports medicine career.

Primary care allows doctors to work on patients’ comprehensive health care needs, Miles says. “Ideally, everyone’s first contact should be with a primary care doctor .” Miles’ passion for medicine was acknowledged publicly when he received the 2005 Kumar Mullangi Award for Academic Merit, an honor given to an exceptional primary care student. Miles graduated with honors and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the only national honor medical society.
